Hi, this is Keith Renninson “The Tenacity Expert” professional speaker & author of the award-winning book “Tenacity, You Don’t Have to Get Lost in Nepal to Find Yourself, But it Helps!”.  I’m here with the next installment of my TRIP Tips for the financial services professional.  Remember that TRIP is an acronym for TENACITY, RESILIENCE, IMAGINATION, AND PURPOSE.  So, let’s get started!

Let’s define process: “a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end.”  It’s also a learned skill and once you’ve mastered it you can apply it to difficult times.  When you have to call up your courage to be resilient you can also call up the process you’ve used in the past.  Or, if you’ve not developed the ability yet, you can begin to put a plan in place that will be repeatable and efficient.

There is a beginning, a middle and an end when a new process takes over.  Journal and keep track of what works and what doesn't so you can refer to your notes the next time until it becomes part of you and you just do it automatically.  Have your team do the same.  Knowing what worked once before gives confidence to everyone for a positive outcome.

Processes can change, be edited, deleted, added to like anything else, and that evolution refines the system and gives you a solid foundation to move forward.
Resilience is often needed when the option to panic is very real.  It is in times like this that you need to remember your life philosophy, mission and purpose.  Find solace in your foundational beliefs, be grounded in your spirituality, and be grateful for the ability to raise you and your team up once again.
If possible, meditate or pray on your situation asking for assistance.  This enables your mind to become calm; your thoughts will be clearer and precise.  Resilience is the ability that comes out of the strength you acquire in the hard times.

I faced many hard times in my first few years as an agent.  I had to work with the landlord on my rent, the phone company on the phone bill and the bank with the occasional bounced check.  My process started to become more obvious as time went by.  Stay calm, form a plan, take immediate action, and keep prospecting…repeat, repeat, repeat.

You will find your process.  Never give up or give in, just give the problem more energy and thought until you find your way through the maze.  Trust me, it does work and you will be resilient, you will!

Well, that’s it for this installment, I hope you have some new ideas on how to proceed.

Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.

See you next time, and in the meantime develop your own process and be resilient!

Teams using TRIP!
By Keith Renninson 07 Apr, 2023
This is the second in a series of four on team building with TRIP. Remember, in my last blog I shared that it would be performed in reverse with “purpose” first and now we will implement the “imagination” section. Imagination is probably the most fun of the character traits of TRIP. I love it because I can immerse myself in creativity and play!
Team building

How can TRIP help with team building you ask? By using it backwards! Huh? Yup, we will start with “Purpose” instead of Tenacity. The series will move from purpose to imagination, to resilience, and lastly to tenacity. When you look at TRIP from this reverse perspective it becomes clear that it flows naturally in team building and task completion. As with any project you must know your purpose first, so that’s where we will start.
