Hi, this is Keith Renninson, "The Tenacity Expert" professional speaker & author of “Tenacity, You Don’t Have to Get Lost in Nepal to Find Yourself, But it Helps!” with my next installment of my TRIP Tips for the financial services professional.   Remember that TRIP is an acronym for TENACITY, RESILIENCE, IMAGINATION, AND PURPOSE.

So, let’s get started!

Yes, I’ve used the word adventure numerous times in these tips, because the real sense of adventure intrigues the human mind.  Adventure conjures up Indiana Jones, Wonder Woman or Captain Kirk and makes us smile, it is what life is all about.  Without it life can be pretty boring.  You've got to find the adventure in your daily personal and work lives. Make it a game.  Play it with a friend or just by yourself.  See how quickly you can find that sense and where it will take you.  It can be as benign as looking for a new and different restaurant, or new video game, a new route to ride your bicycles or a new marketing plan with new artwork.

In your office, sometimes putting a different team member in charge of a new project will liven things up as well.  Or consider forming a joint venture with another planner or agent to explore a entirely new market.

Once you’ve come up with a plan, understand that God and the Universe love quick action so they can help you.  Lay out an adventurous game plan and implement swiftly to keep the energy high.

Always enter into these adventures with the understanding that there will be obstacles along the journey.  In sales, they are called objections and are often just smoke screens.  It's up to you to overcome the obstacles and satisfy the customer with enough reasons to move forward and purchase.  Meeting compliance requirements and branding can be difficult also.  This is the same with any other puzzle, find how to deal with problem with a sense of freedom, fulfillment, and fun.  Being tenacious to anticipate how to overcome objections before they come up will make your appointments flow a lot easier.

Often your communication style will solve the problem through your use of unique, and maybe, adventurous words.  Don't be just like everyone else, use words that are important to you and your sales presentation will stand out.  Educate them on what tenacity means within the goal of the plan that you’re proposing.  Staying vigilant and strong in the face of an ever-changing financial landscape is paramount.

Your terminology, jargon and language are important to setting the baseline of thought on how a plan will work and how it will benefit your client.  Use strong, descriptive and adventurous language that makes them feel secure and excited to work with you.

Well, that’s it for this installment, I hope you have some new ideas on how to proceed.

Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.

See you next time, and in the meantime, be adventurous!

Teams using TRIP!
By Keith Renninson 07 Apr, 2023
This is the second in a series of four on team building with TRIP. Remember, in my last blog I shared that it would be performed in reverse with “purpose” first and now we will implement the “imagination” section. Imagination is probably the most fun of the character traits of TRIP. I love it because I can immerse myself in creativity and play!
Team building

How can TRIP help with team building you ask? By using it backwards! Huh? Yup, we will start with “Purpose” instead of Tenacity. The series will move from purpose to imagination, to resilience, and lastly to tenacity. When you look at TRIP from this reverse perspective it becomes clear that it flows naturally in team building and task completion. As with any project you must know your purpose first, so that’s where we will start.
