Longevity and Aging

I recently gave a keynote on “Longevity and Aging Using TRIP for More Fulfillment, Freedom, and Fun!” and it made me realize that so many folks of that age group need to hear my message.

Like you, when I’m preparing for a client, I try to use my strengths right up front. With tenacity, resilience, imagination, and purpose (TRIP) I’ve got them at my fingertips. Since I’m 74 and not willing to give up on my passion of presenting the TRIP Technique ™ to new audiences I fit right in with this demographic.

It always helps to relate to your customer in as many ways as possible, but that’s a difficult task if you have a large age difference. When I first started with New York Life in 1975 I was 27 and I sought prospects who were within 10 years either side of that age. The company often gave me leads that were folks who were much older than I which made me feel awkward.

I soon learned that if I prepared well, studied the products they were interested in I could still make them a client. Overtime, I actually came to enjoy my older clients much more as they weren’t in a hurry, and were willing to share their stories so that I could satisfy their needs.

Sometimes it took several meetings with different products to find their hot button and close the sale. But it was a solid sale that stayed on the books for years to come, plus I received many referrals from them because they had come to trust me and have confidence in my advice.

I didn’t know that I was using TRIP back in those days. I was developing my character traits that I thought would serve me well over time. It wasn’t until I got lost in Nepal that I discovered my four words and how to apply them daily. If you learn how TRIP works and use them regularly you will see that they provide you strength and determination combined with creativity and purpose.

Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime!

In the end, it’s just one man’s opinion…mine!

Teams using TRIP!
By Keith Renninson 07 Apr, 2023
This is the second in a series of four on team building with TRIP. Remember, in my last blog I shared that it would be performed in reverse with “purpose” first and now we will implement the “imagination” section. Imagination is probably the most fun of the character traits of TRIP. I love it because I can immerse myself in creativity and play!

How can TRIP help with team building you ask? By using it backwards! Huh? Yup, we will start with “Purpose” instead of Tenacity. The series will move from purpose to imagination, to resilience, and lastly to tenacity. When you look at TRIP from this reverse perspective it becomes clear that it flows naturally in team building and task completion. As with any project you must know your purpose first, so that’s where we will start.
