How Decisive Are You?

How Decisive Are You?

Making decisions is a daily if not an hourly affair. We can’t escape it, nor should we want to. Making decisions is a human necessity, to live your life you must make decisions about everything from what to wear that day, what to have for breakfast, whether to meditate before work or during, and on, and on and on.

Because it’s a never-ending process, it takes tenacity to stay on top them and make focused and reasoned decisions. It may seem trivial to think about being focused on every tiny decision, but they are your decisions, and they reflect on you either badly if done poorly, or well, if done properly.

We all get lazy with the small insignificant thoughts surrounding decisions and opt for the quick and easy. Then, often, we have to re-trace our steps and re-think it and implement a different decision which all takes up precious time and energy. It also makes us moody because we suddenly feel insecure and embarrassed.

Tenacity is my gig in life. I live it, breath it, and write about it a lot. It’s the basis for my keynotes and breakout sessions. I’ve never been a rock star at anything and had to work hard for everything I’ve accomplished in life…and that took tenacity. I’m still learning how to not procrastinate and make decisions in the moment that have quality and class, I guess it will be a lifelong endeavor. And that’s okay as long as I feel I’m making progress.

This year has been particularly straining with breaking both ankles skiing in December to the knee replacement three weeks ago. That combination has pushed me to my limits and then some. But, the character trait of tenacity is strong in me, it makes me feel good when I push through a difficulty with success, so I want to do it again.

There is the reward. Feeling good about myself gives me confidence that I can tackle lots of physical, business, and emotional challenges with gusto and keep on smiling. The more you do it the easier it becomes, but you’ve got to celebrate the small successes along the way to recognize your hard work and the outcome you were seeking.

Remember that tenacity is like any other muscle, it must be exercised to function properly, so do it daily on big and small tasks, you be glad you did!

Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime!

In the end, it’s just one man’s opinion…mine.

Teams using TRIP!
By Keith Renninson 07 Apr, 2023
This is the second in a series of four on team building with TRIP. Remember, in my last blog I shared that it would be performed in reverse with “purpose” first and now we will implement the “imagination” section. Imagination is probably the most fun of the character traits of TRIP. I love it because I can immerse myself in creativity and play!
Team building

How can TRIP help with team building you ask? By using it backwards! Huh? Yup, we will start with “Purpose” instead of Tenacity. The series will move from purpose to imagination, to resilience, and lastly to tenacity. When you look at TRIP from this reverse perspective it becomes clear that it flows naturally in team building and task completion. As with any project you must know your purpose first, so that’s where we will start.
