"Learning to Wait"

For some time, I’ve been wanting to write a more philosophical blog and today I feel I have the words. If you think about TRIP and how it is applicable to your daily life then you should find this topic relevant.

Learning to wait for things is a trait that many of us struggle with, hence the term instant gratification. We humans must wait for lots of things every day and slowly get accustomed to them, like traffic jams, the lines at our favorite coffee house and grocery store. As adults we’ve trained ourselves to be patient, to occupy ourselves with our phones, listening to music or work on our calendars to pass the time and be productive. This helps us to stay civil at times when we are in a hurry and frustrated. We learn to be kind but tenacious, loving but resilient.

Other experiences are less easy to control, like waiting for God to give us what we are asking for daily. Buddha would tell you that having desires or expectations is detrimental to your psyche so don’t set them and you will live a happy life. I don’t know about you but that doesn’t work quite so well in my modern society, although I can appreciate the sentiment.

In the world of the Law of Attraction and cause and effect, the theory is that the more you push for something the more it backs away. Therefore, you must “act as if you already have” your desires to attract them. You want a relationship with a certain individual, don’t press them but wait instead for God to act on your behalf. Now, there is the other side of the coin that states that you must take action to help the Universe see your intent and edge things closer to you. But for many of us who are more impatient the old Rolling Stones song said this best “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction!”

We are all in a hurry to get everything we want, right? But, as many would say, if you had it all what would you strive for? What would make life worth living? Having everything you desire would be pretty boring, I think. So, this is when your imagination and purpose should come to the forefront of your life planning.

Waiting. It’s a concept that we struggle with because we are thinking about the future rather than living our lives in the moment and letting God move about his tasks of answering our prayers with divine timing.

Divine timing is that wonderfully ethereal notion filled with synchronicity and coincidences which are rich with pleasurable emotions and experiences. Like, just when you thought that your special someone had disappeared from your life a certain set of circumstances arise that allows them to cross your path. Pay attention to these occurrences they are signs that things are working in your favor and your desires are about to become reality.

It’s when we force things to happen that we push them away. Being excited to wait is almost an oxymoron, right? But, if you were enthused to see how things would play out if you did wait, life just might be more fun to watch unfold.

Sure, you have to clearly state your desires and intentions because they are energy just like everything else in the universe. Like attracts like as the saying goes, so have good energy and you will attract the good energetic things that you desire.  Meditate on them to make them visually real in your mind and solidify them as true desires.

Applying TRIP daily helps you wait with intention and spirit and makes life an adventure.

In the end it’s all about faith and trust…sorry! LOL!

Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime not of a lifetime.

Any way you look at it, it’s just one man’s opinion…mine.

Keith Renninson's Tenacity Blog

Teams using TRIP!
By Keith Renninson 07 Apr, 2023
This is the second in a series of four on team building with TRIP. Remember, in my last blog I shared that it would be performed in reverse with “purpose” first and now we will implement the “imagination” section. Imagination is probably the most fun of the character traits of TRIP. I love it because I can immerse myself in creativity and play!
Team building

How can TRIP help with team building you ask? By using it backwards! Huh? Yup, we will start with “Purpose” instead of Tenacity. The series will move from purpose to imagination, to resilience, and lastly to tenacity. When you look at TRIP from this reverse perspective it becomes clear that it flows naturally in team building and task completion. As with any project you must know your purpose first, so that’s where we will start.
