Ah, Four Days Off

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I opted to not write a blog pre-Thanksgiving and do one after instead, and it prompted some questions:

  • Did you enjoy your four days off over Thanksgiving?
  • Did you get four days off?
  • Did you get Thursday off and work Friday and possibly Saturday?
  • Did you use the time off, if you got it, to do some end of year planning?
  • Did you use it to relax and just be with family and friends?
  • Did you travel for pleasure or to get to family gatherings?

These questions weren’t even relevant during COVID, were they? Back then we didn’t do a lot of things that had been normal for most of our lives. Most folks have returned to “normal” as COVID has diminished and we are loving having our freedoms back to do as we please.

Now that those days are returning, what have you done to change your life? Have you looked at what you were doing and found things that weren’t living up to your expectations and made changes to achieve new heights?

TRIP is a tool that helps you get your mojo back and up to speed. Using your character traits of tenacity, resilience, imagination, and purpose to plan and adjust your life gives you focus. They bring clarity to the process of making serious decisions.

When I was lost in Nepal, I had to experience difficulties on the trail before my mind could give up on thinking about old failures. I had to hit a point of

convergence where living in the moment was so paramount that I was forced to accept my circumstances and make adjustments.

COVID did that for many of us.

Thinking and acting in the old ways didn’t cut it anymore. Using TRIP for those of you who follow this blog on a regular basis hopefully has given you a leg up on that process and propelled you forward to make solid action-based decisions. Continue to us it as a roadmap and follow it to a successful conclusion. Ask good relevant questions, seek to be thoughtful and mindful in your answers and resilient in your action items. Allow your imagination to be crazy creative but in a purposeful way. TRIP will serve you well if you use them diligently.

We’ve got a month before a new year begins…set new goals utilizing TRIP and see what happens. I think you’ll be pleased with the outcome…good luck!

Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.

In the end, it’s just one man’s opinion…mine.

Keith Renninson's Tenacity Blog

Teams using TRIP!
By Keith Renninson 07 Apr, 2023
This is the second in a series of four on team building with TRIP. Remember, in my last blog I shared that it would be performed in reverse with “purpose” first and now we will implement the “imagination” section. Imagination is probably the most fun of the character traits of TRIP. I love it because I can immerse myself in creativity and play!
Team building

How can TRIP help with team building you ask? By using it backwards! Huh? Yup, we will start with “Purpose” instead of Tenacity. The series will move from purpose to imagination, to resilience, and lastly to tenacity. When you look at TRIP from this reverse perspective it becomes clear that it flows naturally in team building and task completion. As with any project you must know your purpose first, so that’s where we will start.
